Arts Academy Charter School
Mission & Vision
Our mission is to provide a rich & comprehensive educational program for students in grades K-5. We do this by employing an intensive artistic immersion program. A rigorous & traditional academic program will be enhanced with rich, varied, weekly experiences in dance, instrumental music, visual art, vocal music, theatre & gymnastics. Each student will be provided with a broad introduction to the arts, in order to enhance their future academic success.
Our Plan & Our Model
We plan to replicate the educational model that we developed in Allentown after three long years of work. In September of 2015, we opened, with over 400 students. We provide EVERY student 2-3 hours of artistic training each and every school day. ALL STUDENTS receive training in ALL of the ARTS! No tryouts or auditions are required, but we want students & parents to hold a special interest or enthusiasm for the arts. In accordance with state and charter law, we will accept & fully educate all students, regardless of background or disability.
The founder, Dr. Lubben, has successfully opened up three art focused charter schools in the Lehigh Valley. He began working on a charter
school in 1996, while the law was still under discussion. He opened the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts in 2003.
After serving as their Superintendent until 2010. Dr. Lubben proceeded to open a 5-8 Middle School for the Arts in Salisbury in 2012. In September,
2015 Dr. Lubben opened a K-5 Arts Academy Elementary School in Allentown.
Plans for Recruitment & Community Support
A Board will be formed. We are assembling a group of partners who support the concept.
Our goal is to develop a POSITIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIP
(non-adversarial) with the Easton School District.
